Discipleship Class 2007 - Assignment #6

Well, everybody, I hope you all had a great Spring break. I wanted to start of this week with a new assignment, so Here it is:

I want you to go out and ask 5 people (at least 2 that you know are not
Christians) these two questions:

1) What is faith? Define it.

2) How does faith play a part in your life?

After you have gotten your 5 answers I want you to formulate what you
believe faith to be & how you might share your answer with others.

So this assignment was a great contact opportunity b/c God had me talk to the people that needed to hear about Him (He has a funny way of doing that) - SMILE - So anyways most of the people I talked to gave a "Sunday School," answer but once deeper conversation began their true opinions came out and I got the impression that they believed faith to be nothing more than a Christians made up idea to make them feel better. Its funny though b/c not one of them denied having faith - it wasn’t necessarily in God, but each one shared the concept of having faith in the universe, themselves, etc, and they stated that faith is something necessary b/c "you have to have faith in something." –
Anyways those conversations were interesting and one guy in particular turned my question around and asked me and all I could do it share with him the love, peace, and hope I've found in Jesus and that faith usually means you trust and surrender your doubts. (Probably not the best definition, but he seemed to understand) God quickly opened another door and I got the opportunity to share with him how my world revolves around having faith that God will take care of me and that I don’t have to depend on earthly security, pleasures, or always being able to see things tangibly. God was so good in the situation! So it looks like I ended up answering both questions in the same story - GIGGLE - sorry it's so long
