Discipleship Class 2007 - Assignment #4

Well, last week we ended our section called, Called to the Kingdom of God & began our section called, Called to Christ. So, here are this weeks questions:

  1. How are the two sections tied together, both scripturally & theologically(hint: you might have to go back to the first lecture on the Kingdom of God)?
  2. What does it mean for you to be called to both the Kingdom of God & to the person of Jesus Christ, as well?

There you go, have fun!

We are examples of Christ in this world. We are called to a relationship with Christ that He and the kingdom may be revealed through us. Jesus said (paraphrase) "the kingdom of God will be within you". We are called to be partakers of the kingdom through our relationship with Him but also be extensions or ambassadors to the world to reach the lost,..."as if He were making His appeal through us".

The Kingdom of God was the focus of Jesus's ministry and we now have the oppurtunity to serve Him by preaching His message and drawing closer to Him daily. I loved the concept of "Now but not yet" because it helped me grasp that the Kingdom of God is here and we are called to be Christ's Ambassadors and reach out to the lost, but we still arn't one with our Father yet.
Christ called us personally to serve Him and what a priveledge to be called the children of the creator of the universe! I think as we grow closer to Jesus and focus on His Kingdom and calling we can truly be obedient to His purpose and by responding out of love and adoration for our Father we allow Him to work through us to liberate the lost.
