Discipleship Class 2007 - Assignment #3

Dear Class,

This week I thought I would ask a couple of questions that ask you to take what we have talked about in class & think about how it applies to your life, so here goes.
  1. This week we finished talking about the 8 OT attributes/anticipations of the Coming Kingdom of God, One of the was that, "The day of the Lord would be a time of Peace." ----How have you experienced the Peace of the Kingdom in your own life, be as specific as possible.
  2. We also talked about the fact that with the coming of Jesus, the kingdom of God has entered the world. We are now citizens of the Kingdom. So, XA should reflect the kingdom, right? So, how do you see the Kingdom of God in XA?
There you go, have fun.

Well I'm experiencing major changes in my life right now and I can say withougt a doubt that the peace of the kingdom is defenately been working in my life. Sometimes I wonder what I would be like if I didn't have God to turn to when things got hectic.

I guess I see the kingdom in the members of XA. I see that they have a heart for God and a heart for reaching out to people that don't know him. I also see the kingdom in the way we can connect with each other and build up our faith through fellowship.

When God told us to take His yoke - He knew what He was saying(as always) - SMILE - b/c He also promised us we would find rest. I can enter God's rest or feel His perfect peace, when I've truly surrendered everything to Him and I'm God focused embracing His teachings and example and centering my priorities around God not my own desires.

I had never fully understood why the Bible talked about the importance of fellowship and sharing each others burdens until I entered XA. What a gift XA has been to me spiritually - When I think of XA, spiritual family comes to mind. I understand and embrace the importance of small groups, of lifting eachother up and the concept of iron on iron. The believers in XA are seeking God, modeling their life after Christ so others can't help but see Jesus overflowing in their actions. Love, embracing others, kindness, sincerity, care takers, leaders, bold for Christ, and a passion that only God can provide are words that come to mind when describing the believers in XA.
God's plan for a spritual family is amazing and I think XA reflects God's kingdom well, but we can always grow, and as we draw closer to God I think His kingdom will shine brighter in our lives to those around.
